For more than a decade the green superfood powders have become very popular because of their powerful health benefits. Today you can find different brands online or in your local health food store. The so-called superfoods can help you achieve better health, support your immune system, and improve the way you feel. However, not all superfoods are worthy of the title.

For starters, with so many brands already established, you may be wondering why I developed another green superfood brand? Let me explain. I tested personally around 2 dozen superfood powders and discovered quite significant differences. Some powders made me feel nauseous for a start, some caused bloating, and others tasted disgusting. And to my disappointment, most of the brands didn’t make any difference to my daily energy levels.

Maca Root Powder – Maca root is a great source of protein, and high in various essential vitamins and minerals particularly Vitamin C and Iron. Maca is also known to increase energy and sex drive in both men and women.

Lucuma Powder – Lucuma can help to prevent diabetes, is rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, calcium and potassium. It is also rich in antioxidants to prevent and slow the signs of ageing, especially signs of low energy. Lucuma is also a great choice for endurance athletes in general.

Alfalfa Powder – Is great for detoxing your body. It is rich in Vitamin A and enzymes and therefore supports healthy skin. It is also rich in other Vitamins like B1 and B6 as well as C, which is beneficial for the hair. Alfalfa contains minerals such as calcium, zinc and iron. Alfalfa is very nutritious and can assist in the speedy recovery from illnesses and boost the body’s immunity power.

Wheat Grass Powder – Helps with better absorption of nutrients like electrolytes, vitamin C and E. It is proven to reduce inflammation levels and is a source of several antioxidants like flavonoids and phenolic acids. Several studies have found that wheatgrass raises a persons immunity and has anti-cancer properties.

Baobab Powder – Has high Vitamin C content – 10 times more than oranges! Baobab powder is high in magnesium (5 times more than avocados) and potassium (four times more than bananas). Among the most valuable health benefits are the antioxidants (twice the antioxidants of goji berries).

Pomegranate Juice Powder – Is rich in natural antioxidants to protect the body from free radical damage and toxins. Pomegranates have anti-inflammatory effects and is known to reduce overall blood pressure levels. A study in 2012 stated that it also could help people with Type 2 diabetes. And a study published in 2011 of the “Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism”, researchers found that drinking pomegranate juice may support overall body fat content.

Goji Berry Juice Powder – Like many other superfoods, is an excellent source of antioxidants. Some studies have shown that Goji Berry extract may help to slow down the aging process of the cells and have anti-cancer properties. Regular consumption of Goji Berries helps with increased energy, better performance and faster recovery after a physical workout.

Matcha Green Tea Powder – Over a thousand years ago Matcha is known in Japan to support concentration and focus, hence helping with meditation practice. Furthermore, the high content of L-theanine helps with memory and supports a more effective learning experience. Another health benefit of Matcha is a boost of energy throughout the day. A recent study demonstrates that Matcha improves physical endurance by 24%.

Broccoli Powder – Is rich in beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant with anti-cancer effects. It also contains high quantities of calcium and folate for healthy cell and tissue growth. According to a study in 2009, Broccoli was linked to support the liver and colon, which are key organs of detoxification and elimination.

Acai Powder – Acai is a rich source of antioxidants which neutralizes the negative effects of free radicals, improves cellular health and balances cholesterol levels. Due to the wide range of health benefits, Acai leads to higher energy and stamina and may even help with fatigue and exhaustion. One study demonstrates that drinking Acai after a workout reduces the body’s metabolic stress. Acai is high in anthocyanins and other phytochemicals which can improve long-term memory and healthy brain aging.

Noni Fruit Powder – Noni has the nickname of “The Tree For Headaches” or “Painkiller Tree”. It has shown that Noni acts comparable to a pain-reducing drug reducing joint pains or arthritis. Noni helps your brain stay healthier and increases memory functions. It supports the immune system as it contains properties to fight infections. It stimulates the production of serotonin and melatonin to balance your mood, emotions and sleep.

Kakadu Plum Powder – Has the highest recorded levels of Vitamin C of any fruit. To manufacture the vast amount of new cells, it utilizes a special compound only found in Chlorella, called Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF), which is a mix of bioavailable nucleotides and peptides. I often get asked how I mix the Vital Health Greens.

Here is my favourite recipe:

I use a common shaker and start with 1tbsp organic vinegar or 3-5 tbsp kombucha or the juice of 1 medium-sized lime. Then I add:

  • 1,5 tsp Vital Health Green Powder
  • ½ tsp Magnesium powder
  • ½ tsp Vitamin C powderbeyondgoodhealth-vitalhealthgreens

Then top it up with 500ml water and shake. This should be consumed daily. You may not need the additional magnesium or vitamin C if you are not physically active. If you aren’t sure, ask your BGH health practitioner to test for you.

I drink this power mix immediately after getting up. What I love is that it not only boosts my energy levels quickly but also allows me to train 1-2 hrs without feeling exhausted.
