Kat is a Registered Nurse with 20 years of experience working in different countries such as Slovakia, Italy, UK and Australia. She has been blessed to learn and gain invaluable knowledge and insight when it comes to health in various medical fields like acute general and vascular surgery, hematology, end of life care and her very recent experience comes from oncology which has lead her to explore other ways of natural and alternative treatments and become a Colon Hydrotherapist.

She is extremely passionate about helping others to improve their general well-being and deeply believes that our bodies have the natural ability to heal themselves if we provide them with the right environment and that the human body operates at its peak when free of waste materials. Trapped gas and solid waste, including mucous, are at the core of most people’s health issues.

Did you know that your bowel is the most neglected organ in our bodies?

Unfortunately, 90% of cases just going to the toilet is not enough. You might wonder ‘Why’?

Our world is undergoing constant and dramatic changes, and not always for the better. We are literally being bombarded by toxins every day.

The air we breathe is often highly polluted, our soil almost fully depleted and de-nurtured, and our crops are sprayed with chemicals and poisons therefore more and more food we eat is poor in quality and nutritional value, or it has been overcooked or microwaved to death with nothing of any value left, not to mention the artificial ingredients that contain sugars, salts, artificial coloring and flavoring to make it look and taste better.

Stress, busy lives and ignoring ‘the urge to go’, red and processed meat consumption, low intake of vegetables and fibre, dehydration, high caffeine and alcohol consumption, fizzy drinks are another factors that contribute to a build up of toxic waste in our bodies.

Our immune systems become weakened and compromised and our body is laid open to viruses, heart disease, cancer and other various health problems.

Our bloodstream becomes sticky, fatty and teaming with the toxic residue of our life styles which leads to our organs not being able to function efficiently.

Our bowel-the sewer system becomes sluggish and ceases to eliminate the toxic waste that has been dumped into it by hard a working liver so it can be eliminated from our body.

This results in fermenting and putrefying of toxic waste which is eventually reabsorbed by our bloodstream to then pass through and wash over every cell and organ as it circulates around our body.

Yes, this may become a problem but there is solution.

WHAT IS COLONIC HYDROTHERAPY?

Colonic Hydrotherapy is a practice that dates back many hundreds of years.

It is a safe and effective method of cleansing the colon by repeated gentle flushing with warm filtered water under a low pressure, using specialized massage techniques on the tummy area to stimulate release. The treatment is odorless and is not painful.

Colonics or irrigation is an ‘internal bath’ carried out to help to remove toxins and eliminate stored faecal matter built up in the body overtime along with gas, mucus, parasites, undigested food and cellular debris allowing the colon to perform its natural functions optimally.

It also prevents the body from reabsorbing toxins during cleansing and detoxification.

Colonics is an essential treatment used to assist the body in a healing process in a wide variety of a different colon-centered conditions such as:

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING MY VISIT?

At your first visit, we will spend some time to get to know each other and make sure you have all your questions answered.

Don’t worry if you have any concerns or feel embarrassed, it is our priority that you are comfortable, relaxed and guided during this journey so you can fully benefit from your session which will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

It won’t hurt, it might be just a little uncomfortable at times, especially prior to release, however it is well worth it for the reward of improved well-being.

THE PROCEDURE

You will be covered to ensure your privacy and dignity. Sterile and disposable attachments are used in an enclosed system to meet the highest standard of hygiene.

A speculum with an inflow and outflow tube attached is gently inserted into the rectum, then it’s all smooth sailing.

The abdomen is massaged using Young Living massage oils and essential oils during the colonics encouraging the bowel to release the old, hardened faecal matter, trapped gas, mucous while flushing out toxins and even parasites.

WHAT IS THE GUT MICROBIOME?

The gut microbiome refers to the bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microscopic organisms that live inside our intestines. Some of these microbes, known as “bad” gut bacteria, are harmful to our health, while “good” gut bacteria provide numerous symbiotic benefits that assist us in utilizing nutrients, breaking down food waste and keeping pathogenic bacteria under control to prevent disease. 

Many who strive for good gut health take probiotic supplements or consume naturally fermented, probiotic foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut and kefir. Probiotics are concentrated beneficial bacteria and can increase the population of the microbiome preventing conditions like weight gain, inflammatory bowel diseases, diabetes, heart disease, and psychological issues, among many others.

WILL A COLONIC REMOVE HEALTHY BACTERIA FROM MY COLON?

Many people get the impression that a colonic “washes out” beneficial bacteria along with the non-beneficial bacteria. Colon hydrotherapy only uses purified water to hydrate, dissolve and transport solid waste and gas out of the body. It does not disrupt the mucosal membrane where the majority of beneficial bacteria colonize. Just as we don’t completely eliminate bacteria from the mouth by drinking water, we don’t fully  eliminate it from the colon with colonics. In fact by reversing a stagnant colon that’s accumulating waste we can create a clean environment that allows beneficial bacteria to thrive and multiply quickly which makes our probiotic supplements and fermented vegetables even more effective. 

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER COLONICS?

Because your colon is empty right after the session , you may not have a bowel movement for a few days. However in some cases, especially if it is your first colonic, you may feel the need to go to the loo several more times afterwards as waste will have shifted around.

Don’t worry, either is normal.

It is highly recommended to stick to easier to digest foods following your treatment. Foods like warm vegetable soup, or bone broth, steamed vegetables, avocado, and fresh pressed juices are normally ideal post-colonic. Too much roughage for the 24 hours following your colonic may cause cramping, bloating and discomfort. It is also recommended to drink electrolytes post-treatment and take probiotics. Treat yourself to taking a nice warm bath, drinking peppermint, fennel, or chamomile tea, and using therapeutic grade essential oils such as lavender, ginger, peppermint, fennel, thyme, cardamon or clove is recommended as well.

Try to avoid drinking caffeinated coffee and tea, alcohol, dairy or carbonated drinks.

Other foods that may cause problems are chocolate, foods made with flour and refine sugar, processed foods, ice-cream and dairy foods. Also avoid foods that are acidic, spicy, fried or fatty.

Give your colon well deserved break and some gentle, tender loving care after the treatment.

DO I HAVE TO PREPARE BEFORE THE COLONICS?

We recommend that you drink 1 liter of water first thing in the morning so you are well hydrated, adding fresh squeezed lemon can be beneficial.

Do not eat 2-3 hours before the treatment and drink only a small amount of liquid as necessary.

Stay well hydrated and drink 2-3 liters of water every day.

If this is your first colonics, there is no need to go on special diet or fast, we want you to do everything as you normally would so we can see how your bowel operates under normal circumstances.

The following sessions, for the best results, we recommend to avoid gas-forming foods the previous day like broccoli, beans, cauliflower, cabbage, onions, cucumber, melons, apples, bananas.

We recommend to avoid any rich colored foods like beetroot, turmeric or spirulina 48 hours before procedure. Moderate amounts of other green foods like spinach are ok.

Abstaining from wheat or dairy few days before can be quite beneficial.

Minimize caffeine, processed foods, sugar, alcohol, bread and fruit juice. Raw vegetable juice is more suitable.

Eat more of fresh vegetables, less fruit and white meat, try to avoid red meat 24 hours prior to colonic as well as spicy foods.

Don’t worry if you you haven’t though, it just might take things a little longer to get moving.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED COLONICS?

Clients often ask  “When should I come back?” or “How many colonics do I need?”

It is important to understand that it takes a long time to build up the waste in the colon so it is also going to take a certain time to remove it which is impossible to do in one single session.

It all depends on what is your reason for doing the treatment and what are your personal goals, lifestyle and general state of health.

Do you want to detox and speed up the process by cleaning the colon while providing your body the best environment for its own healing at the same time or are you doing the fitness and want to de-bloat or do you suffer from constipation?

For most people, especially if you are new to colonics, it is recommended to have at least 3-4 consecutive sessions in one month to achieve the best possible outcome and cleanse.

If you would like more intense cleansing, you may need 3-6 sessions, one in a week.

It is also a great way to introduce and get bowel used to a better pattern of elimination.

For severe constipation, a minimum of 6 treatments is normally required and done over the span of 3 weeks (eg 2 treatments per week).

Many people decide to continue with the maintenance sessions either once per month or every couple of months after initial treatments as they enjoy to feel more energized and have better bowel motion on top of other benefits that come with colonics.

There is nothing quite like that ‘after colonic feeling’.

Receiving a colonic is like going to the gym for the bowels where during a session, we activate and exercise the internal muscles of the digestive system which naturally results in improved frequency and a reset to restore the system to a healthy schedule.

By eliminating the excess waste and toxins built up we prevent and reduce bloating and distention which also results in optimal nutritional absorption from the foods we eat.

The skin is our largest detoxification organ and when we hold excess waste in the intestines , it begins to circulate out toward the skin causing acne, blemishes, and rashes. By releasing the burden of retained waste, your skin is going to clear up and glow again.

The closer you do sessions together, the easier it is to get all the way back to the start of your colon and truly get the old waste matter out. Imagine how excited your body gets about releasing it and then if there is no follow up with another few sessions, your body will re-absorb everything we have  stirred up back into blood stream and potentially make you feel even worse until it’s all settled back into your system.

Think about this…we brush our teeth twice a day…change the oil in our car every 3000 miles yet we often neglect to clean our colon.

Remember, all this waste needs to come out! Your colon is your sewage system and if that backs up you have big problems.

You will feel the difference and see what’s being released already after your first session so you can begin to decide when you want to come back yourself.
